We are currently looking for an experienced High Availability Data Center Manager to manage all of the day-to-day operations of our Morton Grove data center which operates 24/7. The Data Center Manager will provide operational oversight and management of the existing Morton Grove Data Center and co-location facility which includes operations of IBM iSeries machines as well as approximately 70 wintel servers. Overall, this individual will support, maintain, and monitor all data center activities which includes but are not limited to problem management and resolution, security, access control, production control, scheduling and jobs, performance monitoring, and problem escalation.

Main responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the equipment (printers, cables and connectivity) to all of our remote warehouses.
• Running the computer room as well as support another company’s equipment in a shared services environment within the same building.
• Working closely with Infrastructure services and is expected to have a good understanding of telecommunications, Microsoft Architecture, Wintel machines, and Help Desk operations.
• Supporting, planning, and executing DR exercises for the iSeries and the Wintel machines internally.
• Managing 3 operators and a variety of complex projects and activities.
• Maintaining fiscal responsibilities related to the department budget.
• Managing RFPs and SOX compliance.

Must have the following required work experience and skills:

• Worked a minimum of 10 years in a high availability web and transaction-processing server environment.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a technology based field and a good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in use in a data center environment including generators, UPS systems, electrical systems, fire suppression, and cooling systems.
• A solid understanding of the service-provider business, along with personnel management in a shift-based environment.
• In-depth experience managing both an IBM iSeries and Windows environment.
• Significant experience in transformation initiatives, and have experience implementing a ‘lights-out’ environment as well utilizing newer technology (Virtual Machines, Blade Servers and Storage Networks) to provide cost savings while increasing resiliency and service levels.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with the management team and internal and external customers on a regular basis.
