Our Purchasing Team is currently searching for a new member in the capacity of Buyer who will be a key source for information on preferred products, programs and suppliers. In this challenging and aggressive role you will be responsible for developing key programs in the areas of corrugated materials and other packaging lines. Key responsibilities will include soliciting & evaluating vendor services and negotiating product pricing & program terms. The Buyer will be expected to employ a variety of standard purchasing practices and procedures in addition to recommending strategic concepts to achieve goals in relation to cost savings, product line review, supplier performance and consolidation. Responsibilities will not be limited to:

- Working in conjunction with the Product Manager, supporting and assisting in selecting preferred suppliers, sourcing new products/services and assisting in maintaining vendor relations.

- Reviewing the database to eliminate any product redundancies.

- Communicating any changes on supplier relationships and programs to the necessary departments.

- Maintaining and updating the supplier reference library for existing and potential suppliers.

- Developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of the Company’s products and services.

- Sourcing multiple companies to quote on all new projects or opportunities.

- Negotiating competitive pricing and terms, working with suppliers to lower costs.

- Supporting and assisting as needed with the New Item Addition process which includes the accumulation and verification of item data prior to input into our mainframe.

Candidates must have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in purchasing and/or product management. Other qualifications include:

· Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent grammatical skills.

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Can effectively use electronic mail, the Internet and mainframe applications.

· Able to express creativity and innovation.

· Highly organized and able to multitasks effectively, can prioritize and meet deadlines.

· Extremely detail-oriented and maintains a high-level of accuracy.

· Is able to take direction and work to accomplish team objectives.

· Takes an aggressive problem solving approach to process development

· Able to understand and grasp our company direction, customer requirements, supply chain processes, and marketing strategies.
